Church Life at St.Peter's
At St Peter’s, we fully embrace the Church of England's Vision for Education of ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10).
Religious Education is far more than just an academic subject. In keeping with our Mustard Seed Vision and Christian Values, we aim to work alongside parents to bring children to a deeper understanding of the truths of the Christian faith.
Through explicit teaching about Jesus and the Church, and the development of prayer and worship in school, we provide daily experiences where children live the gospel values; have respect for the opinions and beliefs of others, and grow in their own faith. We see this as our core purpose, and alongside their formation as children of God, we strive to ensure that each child fulfils their God-given potential -academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
We are lucky to have very close links with our Parish Church which is only a short walk away. The children regularly attend St Peter’s Church, at least once each term, as well as celebrating together at significant liturgical moments in the year. Our friendly Reverend Eddy is a regular visitor to our school, supporting in classes and delivering a whole school assembly every month.
We have strong links with Manchester Diocese and have recently helped to devise a Planet Savers Award and have represent the Diocese as part of the National Younger Leaders Award.
We celebrate Advent and Christmas by attending a whole school service, through our key stage nativity plays and our carol service. We re-enact Christ’s Passion during Lent, and celebrate Easter in assembly and through Experience Easter. We have a special celebration at Pentecost to celebrate the Holy Spirit’s coming – and our feast day of St Peter on 29th June, is always a fun celebration.
