Safeguarding

At St. Peter’s, we are ‘Growing and Learning together’ so we can become strong and dependable, just like the Mustard Seed, Matthew 13:32. Our Christian Values underpin everything that we do here at St Peter’s.These ensure:

  • Appropriate action is taken to safeguard and promote children’s welfare
  • All staff are aware of their statutory responsibilities with respect to safeguarding
  • Staff are properly trained in recognising and reporting safeguarding issues

Our DSL’s are: Mr John Wilson (Headteacher) and Mr Chris Colvin (Deputy Headteacher). The DSL takes lead responsibility for child protection and wider safeguarding in the school. This includes online safety, and understanding our filtering and monitoring processes on school devices and school networks to keep pupils safe online. During term time, the DSL will be available during school hours for staff to discuss any safeguarding concerns. If the DSLs are not available, you can call the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub on 0161 342 4101 (Monday to Wednesday 8:30am to 5pm, Thursday 8:30am to 4:30 pm and Friday 8:30 – 4pm).

After these times, you can contact the Emergency Duty Team on 0161 342 2222 or you can speak to someone at Childline on 0800 1111. Calls are free and confidential. You can also contact someone through the Childline website. To report a concern if you are a member of the public.  You can also discuss your concerns with someone who works with children and families, such as your health visitor, social worker or school nurse. Out of office hours:  If the issue can't wait until the next working day, please contact the Children's Emergency Duty Team on 0161 342 2222 and provide us with as much information as possible.

If you are ever concerned that a child is in immediate danger please call the Police on 999
