About the School

About us

St. Peter’s School is a one-form-entry, co-educational voluntary aided Church of England primary school within the Manchester Diocese, catering for children aged 3–11. Guided by our Mustard Seed vision and values, we are committed to nurturing every child academically, spiritually and socially within a caring Christian environment.

The school provides places for 210 pupils: 30 in Reception (Foundation Stage), 60 in Key Stage 1 and 120 in Key Stage 2.

Owned by the Manchester Diocese, the school has a long and proud history dating back to the founding of Welbeck Street School in 1835 and Victoria Street School in 1871. The current school building opened in 1972 and is set within spacious grounds with two large playgrounds, landscaped outdoor areas and a playing field.

The building includes large shared learning spaces, and each classroom has a dedicated intervention area to support small-group and targeted learning. The school also benefits from two libraries, a well-equipped EYFS outdoor learning area, a prayer garden and a forest school area, providing rich opportunities for outdoor learning, reflection and exploration.

Additional facilities include a spacious hall used for Collective Worship, PE, drama, music and dining. The school also has access to the facilities and all-weather multi-sports pitch at Oxford Park.
