Our Curriculum

At St Peter’s CE Primary School, our curriculum is rooted in our Mustard Seed vision, nurturing growth, aspiration and potential in every child. Underpinned by our Christian values, it is designed to develop the whole child—academically, spiritually, morally and socially—so that all pupils flourish and feel a strong sense of belonging within our school community.

Our curriculum is broad, balanced and carefully sequenced, enabling pupils to build secure knowledge and skills over time. It reflects the context and needs of our pupils and ensures that all learners, including those with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds, can access and succeed. -quality texts are carefully chosen to represent our pupils, their experiences and the wider world.

We are committed to developing pupils’ cultural capital through a wide range of enrichment opportunities. These include fully funded educational visits to embed learning, theatre experiences, in-school workshops and visits from external specialists. Pupils also benefit from leadership opportunities such as Ethos Council, Worship Leaders and Earth Stewards, enabling them to contribute actively to school life and the wider community.

Collective Worship is central to school life, providing daily opportunities for reflection, prayer and spiritual growth, and enabling pupils to live out our Christian and British values. Staff engage in ongoing, evidence-informed professional development to ensure high-quality teaching and continuous improvement.

As a result, pupils develop into confident, compassionate and reflective learners who are well prepared for the next stage of their education and able to make a positive contribution to society.
