Overcoming COVID-19 with Reading at St Peter's

On March 23rd, we unfortunately had to close our doors for many of our pupils other than Key Worker and identified groups. We knew how important keeping in touch with our pupil's whilst they are learning from home was and we then ensured that this was done to a high standard. Reading became an extremely important part of the contact we had with the children from Passport to Reading celebrations, to Youtube accounts being created for pupils to listen to staff reading stories online to then theming weeks at school to ensure reading is taking place both at school and at home to the best of our ability.

We believe that this has really helped to lift the spirits of our pupils: one of our Key Worker children, Lucy-Mae  remarked, " Oh Miss I am going to ask my mum to get that book I love it!" when referring to Most People by Michael Leannah.

Take a look at our reading videos and activities we have completed and continue to run throughout wider re-opening.
