What do we do?
The Ethos council works like a school council but thinking especially about the ethos of our school.
The council promotes our Christian Values around school.
Our actions this year
- Lead worship assemblies.
- Create reflection areas and a prayer garden around school.
- Raise money for and work with The Christie Hospital, Manchester.
Ethos Council Assemblies
The Ethos Council planned and led our second worship assembly of the academic year in January 2016. This assembly focussed on the theme of courage with the children reading poetry and some passages from the Bible. In May 2016 we led an assembly on the Holy Trinity. We will continue to lead an assembly each half term.
The Christie Hospital
Our council have been hard at work researching local charities to support. After a whole school vote, St Peter's chose The Christie Hospital to fundraise money for.
To help us understand more about what The Christie is and what it does, a fundraiser who works for charity, came in to talk to us in an assembly. He also told us all the fantastic ways we can raise money and still have fun.
The Ethos Council have already started selling snacks at break times to raise money and they are excited to organise some more fundraising activities in the future.
Dress in blue day
The Ethos council have already started selling snacks at break times to raise money.
We have had a whole school "Dress in blue day" and taken home individual money collection boxes.
In the Spring and Summer terms we will hold a whole school sponsored event - to be decided by class votes.
Each class will also carry out their own fundraising project.
