Year 5 Class Page - 2017-2018

Welcome to year 5 class page.

Your child's teaching team is:

Mrs Anderson, Mrs Eccles, Mr Connaghan

Homework:

In their diaries children should record their spelling, tables and reading practice each night. Diaries will be stamped each day. If they have not been completed, dinnertime will be used to ensure regular practice occurs.

Spellings/Tables/Reading:

Children are tested on 5 spellings every 2 weeks on a one-to-one basis. These are linked to the National Curriculum spelling patterns. The stages correleate to year groups. In addition to this there is a Friday weekly spelling test using the year 5/6 spelling list from the curriculum.

Multiplication tables are tested and practised in school on a 2 week one-to-one basis. Children who can recall all their tables rapidly will be tested periodically throughout the half-term.

Children have a reading book and a library book. They can change these themselves during break and dinner time. As long as your child is reading then home books, comics, newpapers, magazines are all good practice.

Forest School

Every Tuesday the children will take part in activities in Forest School with Mrs Todd (Forest School Leader) and Mrs Foster.

PE

PE is every Thursday at Oxford Park Sports Hall -PE kits should be left in school for the half-term. This half-term every Friday the children will have cross-country practice followed by swimming.
